Princess Peach Today

This is Princess Peach today. She will be three years old at the end of May. She is happy and healthy.

How did she survive the bout of Demodectic Mange? First and foremost, she received lots of love and attention. Along with that, I fed her a raw food diet and gave her supplements. The raw food diet or BARF (Biologically Appropriate Raw Food) diet refers to raw meat and bones with fruits and vegetables.

Peach enjoyed the diet and it really wasn't much more expensive than regular dog food. I also used rice and oatmeal cereal (the stuff in the baby aisle) to hide the supplements and herbal powders. On occasion I used baby food fruits and veggies when fresh was unavailable.

Aside from the health benefits of this diet, there was another happy result-the dog-bombs were smaller and not as stinky as when she was eating store bought food.

Disclaimer: I am not a vet and I don't even play one on TV. Each dog is different and I am just sharing Peach's story. Before making changes to your dog's diet or care  plan, discuss it with your vet and research it thoroughly.
